Onetahuti

Browse our trips that explore this bay.

Onetahuti is a long, gently curved beach that is first glimpsed via a wonderful elevated view when you descend to the beach from the south.

The Onetahuti campsite is directly behind the main beach.  Tonga Island sits proudly and prominently directly out from Onetahuti beach.  At the northern end of the beach is a recently constructed walkway that now allows all tide access along the Coastal Track northwards to Awaroa.

Locals Tip

Local Abel Tasman expert - Brendan Alborn - Experience the best Abel Tasman walking and hiking trips

“You get good elevated views of Onetahuti when you approach from either end. But my favourite is the view from about halfway up the hill at the southern end. There’s a punga tree in the foreground that adds a nice tropical feel to the photos you can take of the beach below.”
